NAMI In Our Own Voice

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – In Our Own Voice.

  • What: Two NAMI NJ “In Our Own Voice” presentations in Union County are coming up at the libraries: open to the public! Two trained presenters speak about their own experience living with significant mental illness. Michael, who has lived in Union County, lives with schizophrenia, severe anxiety flare-ups, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. In the past, he lived with depression. In addition, another presenter will share their own experience with their mental illness. After the presenters describe “what happened” to them, “what helps” them, and “what’s next” for them, questions and comments about the presenters’ lived experience are welcome! This presentation dispels myths, and leaves all with a sense of hope. Whether you live with mental illness, are a family member or friend, or just want to learn, this presentation will be meaningful for you.
